The deity-level status of a coffee roaster hailing from Kansas' snoozy capital used to take the less-informed by surprise; nowadays, it seems less unusual that an operation as world-class as this should be found in such a place.

PT’s Coffee Roasting Company, established in 1993 in Topeka, Kansas was in need of a brand refresh as they celebrated their 25th anniversary. As we approached the brand identity re-brand, we were truly inspired by PT’s passion for exceptional coffee from seed to cup. 

PT’s Coffee out of Topeka, Kansas celebrates its 25th anniversary this year. The roaster operates three cafes in Kansas and Missouri and fine shops around the country serve their coffees. The company paired up with Carpenter Collective of Kansas City to refresh the brand identity and debuted fresh branding in late November of last year. We asked Will Vunderink to tell us more.

PT’s is repeatedly touted for producing some of the best coffee in the world (Roaster of the Year by Roast Magazine, and 20 scores of 94 and above from industry resource Coffee Review among its many accolades).

The result is a refreshing bubbly drink with just a bit of head created by the crema from the meticulously brewed espresso.

The two companies found common ground in their similar Direct Trade philosophies, working toward the goal of creating the highest-quality coffee possible from origin to cup. 

Two of the specialty roasting world’s leading proponents of direct trade sourcing are combining forces, as Topeka, Kan.-based PT’s Coffee Roasting Co. is acquiring San Diego’s Bird Rock Coffee Roasters.
