The first annual Flatlanders Barista Cup will be held from Friday, October 26th through Sunday, the 28th and will feature visiting coffee producers from Guatemala and El Salvador as well as the winner of the 2011 World Barista Championship. Thirty baristas from around the country will compete in the Cup, which will be open to the public.

A toast of the mug to a local coffee company Thursday night. PT's Coffee Roasting Co. was recently named 2009 Macro Roaster of the Year by Roast Magazine.

The first time I encountered coffee from PT’s Coffee Roasting Company was last year at Caffé Mocias, an industrious little coffee bar on the Upper West Side. 

"The entire process has to be perfect," says PT's co-founder Jeff Taylor. "There is no room for error."

PT’s Coffee Roasting Co. has been named Roast magazine’s “Roaster of the Year” for 2009 in the publication’s November / December 2008 issue released today.
