This seasonal offering from our Direct Trade partner Finca Los Planes is a creamy washed Pacamara with notes of chocolate-covered almond, baked pineapple, and thyme.
The Pacamara varietal is known for its nutty sweetness, creamy body, and trademark savory/herbal element. This year's El Matazano harvest brings all that to the table alongside hints of juicy red apple and baked pineapple—the perfect holiday treat!
Each year we select a Direct Trade coffee to feature as our Holiday Bean. El Matazano is a beautiful example of the Pacamara variety and one of the first lots we ever featured from Finca Los Planes. Husband and wife producers Sergio and Isabel Ticas grow this coffee at the highest elevation on their farm, over 5,700 feet. Cooler nights at high elevation slow coffee cherry maturation, creating a deeper sweetness in the processed bean.
