A delightfully sweet honey processed coffee with aromas of praline, wildflower honey, and raspberry. When sipped, we found notes of toffee, mango, and orange pekoe tea. The buttery body is balanced with grapefruit acidity and tart, dried-pineapple sweetness. Praline and roasted hazelnut notes provide a nutty finish.

"This coffee comes from Leonidas Asdruval. His farm, Nueva Vida, is located in the Puyango canton of the southern province of Loja, bordering Peru. Coffee is the main economic driver of Puyango. Sr. Asdruval has been close to coffee all his life, beginning at age 12 when he would help his father at the farm. Leonidas recalls his father teaching him everything he knows about coffee, allowing him to begin his own coffee production at the age of 20.

"In 2017, Leonidas became interested in the specialty coffee market, attending workshops and applying techniques to increase coffee quality. This particular lot reflects his efforts. The harvested cherries are fermented intact for 40 hours in airtight tanks. The cherries are then lightly depulped and dried on raised beds.

"Sr. Asdruval runs his farm organically, without fungicides or pesticides. He makes his own fertilizers from fruits and is seeking out more workshops to focus on different kinds of organic fertilizers."
