La Lagunita Bourbon Natural Anaerobic
Raisin, Walnut, Lemon Balm
With sweet, nutty tones alongside a slightly herbal funk, this coffee is unlike any other that we've tasted from Finca Los Planes. Aromas of oatmeal raisin cookie and sweet basil lead the way for brown sugar and cinnamon notes in the cup, with a complex, layered body. The unique finish features walnut, lemon balm, and a hint of toasted marshmallow.

The Story
Grown just below the high elevation of the famous El Matazano lot, La Lagunita is situated near a beautiful mountain lagoon on the Los Planes estate. The Bourbon coffee that grows there benefits from plentiful irrigation and cool, humid temperatures.
This is the first time we've offered an anaerobic fermentation from Finca Los Planes. The process involves sealing freshly-picked coffee cherries in tanks, purging oxygen, and allowing the cherries to ferment before carefully drying them on raised beds.
Direct Trade
Sergio Ticas and his wife, Isabel, became our first Direct Trade partners in 2006, following their second-place finish in El Salvador Cup of Excellence. On our first visit it was clear to us that their commitment to quality and sustainable practices is top priority. They have engaged in multiple sustainability initiatives over the last few years—most recently, Finca Los Planes installed a new water recovery system to protect the local water supply and purify water before releasing it back into the ecosystem.
