Kenya peaberries are always a treat, but especially so when the weather warms, since they make delicious iced coffee. We're currently offering peaberries from two renowned coops in Nyeri County and Murang'a County, both packed with the vibrant flavors and deep sweetness that these special coffees are known for.
The Kenya Peaberry Bundle contains 12oz each of:
• Gatomboya Peaberry: notes of plum, lemon zest, and hazelnut.
• Riakiberu Peaberry: notes of candied lemon peel, chamomile, and papaya.
Peaberries are the result of a natural mutation in which only one seed within the coffee cherry is fertilized. Instead of two coffee beans with flat faces and round backs within the cherry, a single rounded bean is the result.
Peaberries constitute a small percentage of each harvest and they are typically sorted into peaberry-only lots for consistency during the roasting process, as they are denser than regular coffee beans.
Standard bundles are available Whole Bean only, in 12oz bags. Blue Label bundles are available in 4oz or 8oz pouches and roast on Tuesdays only.
