The Story
The Kagumoini Coffee Factory belongs to the Kamacharia Farmers Cooperative Society, which was founded in 1993 in Murang'a County after the dissolution of two previous co-ops. Kamacharia maximizes production by training in Good Agricultural Practices, with application of manure and other inputs when required. The co-op is made up of smallholders growing mainly SL28, with a small amount of Batian and Ruiru 11 varieties. This area has two harvests, one from March to May, and main harvest season being from October to December.
After washing and depulping, these peaberries were fermented in tanks overnight, then soaked again before finally being dried on raised beds.
