Final roast Tuesday, March 23.

This limited offering features three stunning washed microlots from our award-winning Direct Trade partner Finca El Socorro in Palencia, Guatemala.

- Cup of Excellence Gesha: notes of pineapple, hyacinth, and white peach, with a silky body. First Place in the 2020 Guatemala Cup of Excellence competition!

- Pacamara: notes of Swiss chocolate, strawberry, and nutmeg, with a creamy body.

- Laurina: notes of orange, hazelnut, and kiwi, with a soft body. This rare varietal, a dwarf mutation of Bourbon, naturally contains less caffeine than typical Coffea arabica.

Each coffee is encased in a resealable 50g glass jar and stacked inside a Blue Label tube. Coffee details are included on the lid of each jar. This collection roasts on Tuesday only.

50g is enough to brew one full Chemex (if you're in the mood to share), or two single-serve pourovers (e.g. Kalita, Hario V60, Melitta). We hope you'll enjoy tasting these special coffees side by side!

The Story

Finca El Socorro, owned by Juan Diego de la Cerda and his family, has proven itself to be one of the best coffee farms in Guatemala year after year. In 2007, Juan Diego won 1st place in the Guatemala Cup of Excellence for the first time, and then took 4th place in 2008. He won again in 2011 with the Maracaturra lot, and most recently in 2020 with his washed Gesha!

Juan Diego has worked hard to expand the farm, increase production by planting several new varieties, and improve milling and drying on the patio. The coffee is grown above 5,500 feet and the wet mill is located at nearly 4,600 feet, which requires special attention at all times to achieve quality coffee due to the elevation.

Juan Diego recently built raised drying beds, which will allow him to produce more natural and honey process coffees on the farm.

Finca El Socorro y Anexos is a Rainforest Alliance Certified farm and they go to great lengths to ensure that they are producing coffee in an environmentally sustainable manner.
