A rich and sweet Yellow Bourbon microlot from a third-generation family farm. Aromas of candied walnut and cocoa powder lead to notes of nougat and dried apple in the cup. The body is round, with golden raisin sweetness and kiwi-like acidity, and a hint of sage surfaces in the satisfying finish.

Coffee cultivation at Fazenda Sertão dates back to the beginning of coffee growing in Carmo de Minas, a municipality in southeastern Brazil. José Isidro Pereira was practicing as a dentist until he inherited Fazenda Sertão from his mother after her passing in the late 1940's. José met his wife, Nazareth, in 1949 and settled their family at Sertão. Now, Nazareth manages the farm along with her children: Francisco, Luiz Paulo, Clycia, and Sandra.
The farm covers 850 hectares total, raising bananas, corn, and dairy livestock, along with 330 hectares of coffee. The coffee is planted on hillsides with slopes up to 45 degrees, allowing cold air to drain away from the crop in order to avoid frost, which is common in the region's winter months. This results in a more uniform ripening and also provides protection against fungal infections due to low relative humidity.
