Finca Santa Maria / Lote Valeria

Almond Brittle, Cantaloupe, Key Lime

Availability: In stock

We found aromas of almond brittle, navel orange, and nutmeg in this year's harvest, with notes of cantaloupe, caramel, and that famous Key lime in the cup. The body is silky, with yellow mango sweetness and blackberry acidity for balance. The cup finishes with a soft and sweet note of almond.

The Story

The growing conditions at Finca Santa Maria in Colombia's Nariño region are unique. Long hours of sunlight and hot springs allow the coffee trees to grow in higher, colder altitudes. This leads to a bean we value for its great level of sweetness and acidity.

Armando Benavides is focused on implementing innovations on the farm, such as irrigation, new processing methods, and the introduction of new varietals. The farm is in the process of changing its name to Finca Valeria, after Armando's daughter.

Direct Trade

During our visits to Finca Santa Maria, we have always been impressed with Armando's level of commitment to sustainability and quality. On top of his farming initiatives, what impresses us most about his operation are his family values. Armando has stressed the importance of passing on his passion for coffee farming to his children and the benefits of a strong relationship with us, his buyers. Good management goes well beyond producing great coffee; it is about coming together with enriching experiences, family, and friendship.
