Chemex Brew Guide

Step 1 - Measure out one rounded tablespoon of coffee (8 grams) for every 4 ounces of water.  A 6 cup Chemex will hold 32 ounces of water if you fill it up to the bottom of the collar.  If you only fill it up to the dimple, it holds 16 ounces of water.

Step 2 - Boil the filtered water in your kettle and set it off to the side.  It will need to sit about 45 seconds before it is ready to pour over the coffee.

Step 3 - Grind the coffee a little finer than you would for a regular auto-drip brewer.  After it is ground, put the coffee in your filter.

Step 4 - After the water kettle has sat for about 45 seconds and reached a temperature of 195-200 farenheit, aggressively pour the water over the coffee grounds in the filter, filling it up to about 3/4 full.  As the water filters through the coffee, keep pouring so that it stays about 3/4 full.

Step 5 - When the brewing cycle is finished, throw away (or compost) the filter and grounds.

Step 6 - Pour, serve, and enjoy!
