Independence Day is one of our favorite holidays and we want to celebrate with you! It’s time to kick back, fire up the grill, and sip some Cold Front. Use promo code FREEDOM this week to take advantage of a special holiday deal: buy a bag of our Cold Front blend and we’ll hook you up with a free insulated Cold Front tumbler.*

About Cold Front:

Cold Front is a blend we developed specifically for cold brew methods. It’s a refreshing cup with gentle blackberry notes and a purple grape sweetness. The smooth creamy body rounds out into a lingering caramel, chocolate, and maple syrup finish.

How to brew it:

One of our favorite ways to prepare Cold Front is using the iced pour over method. Brewing coffee directly over ice is a quick way to get a fresh, clean, aromatic cold brew at home. We feel we get the most well rounded and expressive flavor of our Cold Front Blend with a 50/50 water-to-ice ratio. The goal of this method is to brew a stronger, more concentrated coffee that is diluted to the proper consistency when the ice melts. The quick and direct contact with ice also stops the brew process early by rapidly cooling the coffee, giving the coffee a noticeably bright flavor.

Making on iced pour over is super easy. Start with the parameters for the Chemex listed below, but as always feel free to experiment and find the perfect balance for you.

Brew Parameters:

  • 52 grams Cold Front, ground medium coarse.
  • 355 grams water.
  • 355 grams ice.

Steps:

  • Pre-wet the Chemex filter, then dump out the rinse water.
  • Remove the filter, put 355g of ice in the base of the Chemex, then replace the filter.
  • Pour coffee grounds into filter and begin brew process. If you’re not familiar with how to use the Chemex, click here for more the basics.
  • Swirl the coffee, sip, and enjoy!

*This offer is for retail customers within the continental US only. Limit 2 tumblers per customer. Valid June 29th through July 5th. PT’s reserves the right to charge for shipping on non-coffee purchases.
